Remember 1960s “Laugh In” T.V. comic Flip Wilson? He used to say the “Devil made me do it” as an excuse for some misdeed. Well, now we learn that President Barack Obama was forced to cancel the permit to construct the Keystone XL pipeline because the Republicans made him do it.
State health-care chairwoman to speak at Porter meeting
The 2012 Annual Meeting of Porter Medical Center will be held on Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m. at the Kirk Alumni Center on the campus of Middlebury College. The keynote speaker will be Anya Rader Wallack, Ph.D., chairwoman of the new Green Mountain Health Board. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Some 17-year-olds will vote in Vermont ‘12 primaries
Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos said that in the General Election of 2010, Vermont voters approved a Constitutional Amendment to allow some 17 year olds, those who will turn 18 on or before the day of the November election, to participate in the presidential primary and the August primary for the year that the voter will be 18 by the general election.
D.C. bill would extend dairy safety net
Vermont’s congressional delegation – U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) and Rep. Peter Welch(D) – has introduced legislation to extend a U.S. taxpayer-funded safety net that helps dairy farmers ride out downturns in milk prices. Without action, the legislative trio claim, dairy farmers could face a severe drop in support from the MILC safety net by Sept 1.
