West Rutland On Sept. 14, at approximately 2:32 a.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police Barracks in Rutland were dispatched to a one car accident on Route 4A in West Rutland. The person who called police about the crash was the driver Jacob B. Omand, 21, of North Clarendon.
Troopers found the vehicle rolled into a ditch and resting on the driver’s side on the south side of the highway.
Omand was outside of his vehicle and uninjured. He told troopers that he was on his way to Rutland when he fell asleep and crashed.
While speaking with Omand, a trooper alleged signs of intoxication.
Omand was given a sobriety test and arrested for DUI. He provided an evidentiary sample during processing with a result more than two times the legal limit of .08 percent.
Omand was cited into Rutland District Court for Oct, 1, to answer to the charge of DUI 1.
