Vergennes If you see young and old people around the area bowing to each other and displaying an ethic of mutual respect, all while sporting heavy, white-canvas uniforms, they’re probably Addison County’ TaeKwon Do KICKS students.
Students enrolled in TaeKwon Do KICKS school are kept busy at two of the martial art arts centers located in Middlebury and Vergennes.
On March 10, 28 young students participated in the Vermont Governor’s Cup Competition in Milton. Not too susurringly, all of the young martial artists received medals.
“We were also honored as being the school with the most students competing,” said instructor Master Kellie Thomas. “All students showed tremendous progress over the last few months, several testing for the very first time.”
On March 17, 70 of Thomas’ students tested and were promoted to their new ranks this included students from age 3 through their 60s.
“This testing also helped to further prepare a few students for their Black Belt testing scheduled for June,” Thomas noted.
Thomas said that TaeKwon Do K.I.C.K.S. will host an upcoming community demonstration at the Bridport Elementary School . Twenty eight students are finishing their After School Program at the school. The date will be announced soon.
