Rutland Town On July 19, Vermont State Police troopers responded to a citizen dispute in the Big Lots parking lot on U.S. Route 4 in Rutland Town.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered that Todd Fillmore, 48, of Shrewsbury, and Dave Knipes, 66, of Rutland, had an altercation about a motor vehicle incident that occurred in the parking lot.
Troopers conducted an investigation and discovered that when Filmore exited the parking lot in his vehicle, Knipes was traveling into the parking lot. At that time, the operators said a motor vehicle collision almost occurred.
Knipes proceeded into the parking lot to park his vehicle and then Filmore confronted him about his driving.
A verbal altercation took place and turned physical.
During the altercation, Knipes punched Filmore in his face which caused his front crowned tooth to be dislodged and fall from his mouth. Medical attention was declined.
Knipes was released on citation to appear at Rutland District Court for the charge of simple assault; Filmore was released on citation to appear at Rutland District Court for the charge of disorderly conduct.
