Chester On Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 pm, the Celtic duo Coracle returns to Stone Church Arts to present a program of original music on harp, cello and Irish whistles.
Since its concert for Stone Church Arts several years ago, regular concert goers have often requested that they return to Immanuel Episcopal Church, 20 Church St., in Bellows Falls.
Inspired by the sea and its creatures, real and imagined, John Crockett and Cynthia Hughes weave tunes, songs and stories into a magical journey. Local musicians and naturalists, the duo brings a love of the Earth into their music and creates programs that celebrate the connectedness of all life.
Cynthia Hughes, Celtic harp and John Crockett, cello and Celtic whistles, create programs of Celtic and original music inspired by the land and the sea and its creatures, especially the whales and seals. They often include the sounds of whales and other creatures of sea, earth and sky within and around the traditional and original music they perform.
A coracle is a small boat, a skin stretched over the simplest of frames. For Cynthia and John, the coracle represents the womb of all creation, that sacred emptiness, that centered stillness from which each moment is birthed.
Admission for the non-profit concert is $17 for adults ($13 for seniors and children under 12) in advance and $20 ($15) at the door.
Tickets are available at Village Square Booksellers, Toadstool Bookshop, Brattleboro Books, Misty Valley Books, and at www.brattleborotix.com or available at the door.
