— Springfield High School Arts Academy hosted guest Vermont artist Susan Leader recently.

Leader worked with SHS teacher Dave Slivka’s U. S. History CATS classes on creating Early American clay face jugs, according to art instructor Catherine Moore.

Leader told students that “being a potter has always appealled to me on many different levels, and one of them is simply that it is a way for me to feel rooted in and on the earth, the Vermont landscape.”

Integrating art and history with Leader’s help made the school project something talented junior students will remember.
