Ludlow The Vermont Alpine Racing Assocation sponsored the Vermont J1 and J2 State Championships at Okemo Mountain Resort, Feb 11-13.
“There was some awesome racing on the mountain last weekend,” according to ski photographer Don Dill of Ludlow. “The J1-J2 state championships are established for 15-19 years old.”
On Saturday, participants took part in the slalom on the Wardance Trail. On Sunday, the day included the giant slalom on Chief Trail and on Monday the Super-G was also held on the Chief Trail.
Rainie Hill was overall J1 champion, first on Saturday’s SL, second on Sunday’s GS, and second on Monday’s Super G.
“Hill is a student at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester and Okemo Mountain School during the ski season,” according to Dill.
Casey Abraham was the overall J2 champon, secondnd in SL, GS, and the Super G.
For the boys, Quinn Trainer, J1, placed seventh in SL, eighth in GS, ninth in Super G, Tim Wolfangel, J2, eighth in SL. All were members of Okemo’s race team.
