— Jaskin Melendez, a Mount St. Joseph Academy senior student, was presented the McDonald's All-American Award last week. The award is a distinct honor among high school athletes.

The award was presented to Melendez by Charles Coughlin, owner of McDonald’s restaurants in Rutland and Middlebury, before a varsity basketball game at MSJ's Martin McDonough gymnasium.

Accoding to Kathi Scaralia of MSJ, “Melendez is one of only 300 male high school basketball players nationwide who have received this prestigious award this year.”

The new All-American said he was honored to be recognized by McDonald’s.

McDonald’s donates millions of dollars annually to charities and also sponsors its own Ronald McDonald House program.
