Ludlow The Ludlow Rotary Club has provided scholarships to Ludlow-areacollegiate and vocational students for more than 25 years. The cost of secondary education is continuing to climb at a rapid pace and economic conditions require our young people to be more prepared than ever to compete in the marketplace.
The February 2012 issue of Scientific American magazine reported that 243,000 undergraduate degrees in science disciplines were awarded in the US in 2009, up 102 percent from 20 years earlier, providing additional evidence of the stiff competition our young people face.
This appeal for the public to supplement the traditional scholarship funds raised by the Ludlow Rotary Club each year will allow the Ludlow Rotary Club to increase the scholarships awarded to area students in June.
Through January, over $500 in supplemental scholarship funds has been received, but much more is needed, according to club officials.
Checks should be made payable to the Ludlow Area Rotary Charitble Fund, Inc. with "Scholarship Fund" entered in the memo area of the check, and then mailed to Ludlow Rotary Club, PO Box 216, Ludlow, Vt. 05149.
The Ludlow Area Rotary Charitable Fund, Inc., was formed as a 501(c)(3) organization under IRS regulations; all scholarship donations are deductible for federal and state income tax purposes to the full extent permitted by law. The Ludlow Rotary Club provides documentation for donations to the scholarship fund.
