Police report alleged deer jacking

— On Dec. 3, at approximately 3:03 a.m., a Vermont State Police trooper responded to a report on True Blue Road in West Rutland to assist the Department of Fish and Wildlife officers with a report of possible deer poaching.

When the trooper arrived, he located a vehicle leaving the dead end of the road. A registration check of the vehicle found that the plates were not registered with the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.

A subsequent traffic stop found 21 year old Brandon Lackey, 21, of East Wallingford, Vermont operating the vehicle. Lackey was found to be intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and processed at the Rutland barracks. After processing, Lackey was released with a citation to appear at a later date and time in Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division to answer to the charge of DUI.

No evidence of deer poaching was found at the scene or in Lackey's vehicle.
